Job Summary

Our BIM Survey/Scanning Manager, performs High Volume layout of trade-related features. Performs 3D as-built scanning and scan registration. The position supports and works alongside other MEP Survey teams and acts as a direct report for the local/regional MEP Surveyors. Interfaces with VDC and the Production teams and coordinates local layout scheduling. Assists with MEP Surveyor training. Manages, coaches, and develops staff.

Essential Duties

  • Maintains project databases regarding job progress and records and reports any potential issues.
  • Maintains current multi-job schedules and interfaces with project teams and VDC to modify the schedule as needed.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced colleagues.
  • Manages MEP Surveyor Partners schedules, job site set ups, workloads, assists with the tasking of layout and data collection for the individual team/s.
  • Creation of layout files using Revit/AutoDesk Point Layout.
  • Location and documentation or collection of data to indicate existing conditions via 3D Scanning and scan registration or using a robotic total station (RTS).
  • Creates as-built deliverables for distribution to the VDC and Project Management teams.
  • This work may require travel amongst different TDI geographies to perform the duties of MEP Surveyor IV.
  • Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct responsibility for the work product.
  • Leads and manages department initiatives, projects, and MEP surveyor teams.
  • Monitors the status and progress of projects.
  • Researching, analyzing and interpreting policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files and reports
  • Prioritizing and organizing work assignments.
  • Performs and manages industry/market research to identify industry trends, new tools and technology.
  • Manages equipment (inventory, check-in/out process, etcetera) and the servicing of equipment (calibration,etcetera).
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years MEP Surveyor experience is preferred.
  • High-volume layout capable.
  • Multi-platform capable preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Science, or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, workflows, data formats and interoperability techniques.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and commitment to helping others be successful with technology.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, delegate, and control the work process.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and through written communication.
  • Work may be performed outdoors or on construction project job-sites subject to extreme heat and cold, noise, vibrations, and dust.
  • Ability to work skillfully with both hands; frequently move about construction job-sites; ascend / descend ladders and scaffolds; frequently move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
