Job Summary

Develops and manages existing and new business opportunities and cultivates new relationships for both the Construction and Service businesses.  Manages the needs of existing customer base.  Schedules and conducts sales calls to existing and new customers.  Acts as the interface between Operations and the customer on day-to-day issues.  The Sales Executive interacts with the Controls Manager to help implement the team’s business responsibilities and activities as directed by the Controls Manager.  Completes these job assignments and duties in an autonomous fashion.  Work is typically of a complex nature and its planning often requires creative solutions.  Uses independent judgment to resolve issues and arrive at decisions.  Reports to and performs other duties as assigned by the Controls Manager and/or Business Unit Manager.  Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Essential Duties

  • Schedules and conducts customer visits, new and existing.
  • Provides support to existing customers by working quotes, managing contracts and conducting follow-ups.
  • Performs estimating on construction and service work, as well as maintenance service agreements.
  • Acts in the capacity of a Strategic Account Manager (SAM), as detailed in the Life Cycle Team’s SAM description, for at least one (1) Life Cycle Strategic Account. Duties include but are not limited to creating a strategic business mix to improve customer satisfaction and profit, orchestrating the deployment of corporate-wide resources to provide comprehensive product, service and solutions to the strategic account, and guardian of the strategic customer relationship for the assigned Strategic Account.
  • Conducts pre-job and continuing planning meetings to ensure all project team members understand controls and systems contract terms and conditions, clauses, schedules or any unusual requirements of that project part.
  • Analyzes potential work to ensure its scope, complexity, schedule and other requirements fit the team’s business plan.
  • Works with construction and service operations on initial job planning during job turnover to operations.
  • Attends all project review meetings to provide project status, budget analysis, and end of contract cost.
  • Conducts follow-up on billing issues on all assigned projects and accounts.
  • Develops and executes marketing strategies and materials to increase the team’s customer base according to the team’s and business unit’s strategic plan/s.
  • Markets service products and capabilities with clients at events in a social environment.
  • Attends all team strategic planning meetings.
  • Attends industry and association events to further enhance business relationships within the industry.
  • Estimates and visits with customers for construction projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of progressively increased responsibilities and diverse experience in the Building Automation/Controls industry.
  • Five (5) years of direct experience in Building Automation/Controls selling.
  • Stable work history showing responsibility and professional growth.
  • Proven working Building Automation/Controls and Connected Buildings knowledge.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft based platforms to include CRM.
