Job Summary

Our Change-out/Install Tech installs and/or retrofits new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (duct and equipment) in commercial and/or industrial settings, reads and interprets blueprints and specifications, and adheres to all safety policies and procedures. Serves as a front-line resource to service technicians through technical support and provides guidance and training to other technicians. Requires advanced skills typically gained through a combination of training and considerable on-the-job experience. Works autonomously within established procedures and practices and typically acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others.

Essential Duties

  • Installs and performs retrofits of HVAC systems with expert knowledge of piping and/or sheet metal
    tradecrafts.
  • Types of equipment workedon will include split systems, mini split systems, VRF multizone systems, RTUS,
    WSHP, self-contained systems, CRAC units, air cooled chillers, cooling towers, airside equipment, AHUs
    and exhaust fans of all types.
  • Abilty to lead installation of all types of equipment.
  • Proficiently operates hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring/testing equipment.
  • Completes quoted projects with high quality while maintaining profitability.
  • Develops long-term relationships with customers and explains work performed to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Performs sub-contractor management on quoted projects including coordination and scheduling of
    vendors.
  • Provides guidance to sub-contractors as needed and performs QA-QC tasks.
  • Participates in after-hours quoted projects (as needed) per customer requirements.
  • Safely operates motor vehicles and trailers as evidenced by past driving performance record.
  • Meets requirements of fleet safety and driving policy and adheres to all company safety requirements.
  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Maintains equipment, tools, and inventory stock on service vehicle.
  • Able to work effectively with app based software

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience change-out and install experience in a Commercial setting.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two-year technical degree in related field is preferred.
  • Required installation knowledge – equipment to include split systems, mini split systems, VRF multizone
    systems, RTUS, WSHP, self-contained systems, CRAC units, air cooled chillers, cooling towers, airside
    equipment, AHUs and exhaust fans of all types.
  • Expert skills in controls troubleshooting, wiring diagram interpretation, and parallel/series circuit design.
  • Expert knowledge of A/C electrical circuits and low voltage D/C electrical circuits and operation
  • Ability to read basic schematics, blueprint comprehension and code compliance.
  • Must be able to effectively use app-based technology.
  • Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capability.
  • Demonstrates strong business ethics at all times.
  • Abilty to lead installation of all types of equipment.

Work Conditions:

  • Work may be performed indoors, outdoors, or on construction project jobsites.
  • May be subject to extreme heat, cold, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes and oils.
  • Must be able to qualify for applicable respiratory protection equipment as required, and adhere to all company safety requirements.
